Friday September 13 - decided to do an overnight in Berchtesgaden, Germany

Had to leave Slovenia too soon and chose Berchtesgaden as a scenic stop on the way to Munich.  We had some sightseeing plans which did not work out as it turned out, reservations were essential, not to mention long lines so we skipped everything we'd planned and went for a walk around beautiful Hintersee at the suggestion of our hotel receptionist.

Danny took the next three photos of our hotel, then



on a beautiful river running through the middle of town



with a falls a short distance down from the hotel.  On the right side unseen is a walking bike path, well used by residents and us.



The road to Hintersee led us through more amazing countryside and mountain views.

 
                           

The path wasn't crowded and some hikers wore traditional clothing.

                       

The water was cold but we did see a couple of hardy swimmers - not us but it was tempting!
