Boat/bus trip to Krka National Park,September 5, 2019

We went on a tour which included a two hour boat ride to the park, with a shorter bus ride back - could have driven but with traffic into the park plus admission a pleasant boat ride seemed like the better idea.  We could have driven but between the parking fees and three park admissions, it was hardly worth it a fun boat trip seemed best and much easier.

The ride included a lavish breakfast AND lunch all within two hours - and all right after our LAVISH breakfast at the hotel.  Amazingly, most people had some of everything served from Grappa (me) to several salads and sardines with onions (also me) and some kind of chicken casserole.  I skipped most of the actual food!

Our boat passed the fort we walked to the day before - a ten minute trip to cover 4 miles by road!

Our guide walked us from our boat where we boarded a second boat belonging to the National Park Service.  This entailed a half hour ride up river to the beginning of many hiking trails.  It was very crowded with tourists AND fish - apparently this is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Croatia.  Who knew?!

Before we started walking, there were many opportunities to take photos at scenic overlooks.

And photos in other circumstances LOL !?!?

Below is some of the fish crowd (school) - either brown or rainbow trout.  I took a video but it doesn't open on the blogger site.

The walk through the park went through the woods beginning and ending at large waterfalls, meandering around multiple other falls.

Swimming was allowed in only one area - there were plenty of signs around notifying us of danger to swim elsewhere (our guide warned us as well) - so all we did was to check how cold the water was (keeping an eye out for snakes)!

Here are Danny and Ed swimming in the crystal clear FRESH water of these falls - the swimming area was popular in high 80 degree weather so pretty much everyone hiking who could manage stepping in over the riverbanks jumped in for a dip after the walk.

We saw many swan families in the park, both on our walking tour and from the national park boat.

Toward the end of our swim, Danny and Ed had some company - this one was looking for food!

After the swim, we dried off and walked back on a scenic path to the bus area.

Once again, ending the day with a lovely sunset back at the Hotel Niko.
